What's wrong with movies?

What's wrong with movies? The very question of what's wrong is wrong. The minute you say what's wrong, that's wrong. Because clearly it's not right. A person was created to use their mind proactively. Any form of entertainment which thinks for you is bad, because it diminishes your human hood. Your humanity is defined by using your mind to govern your life and to live as a useful, constructive, busy human being. Being busy with good things is life. But when we put ourselves in a position when our brain is on automatic pilot and someone else is thinking for us, it diminishes our mind. And it doesn't only diminish our mind for the duration, but it diminishes our mind for afterwards. (Rabbi Paltiel)

Motherhood

I stumbled upon my blog today. Oh, my poor neglected blog... once my regular pre-workday activity, now a barely visited, outdated page. Sad how that happened. Even if it's not really sad, why it happened!

I haven't been going to work for a while now. And no, I wasn't made redundant.

I always knew I wanted to have children, and as I entered my thirties, and my carrier blossomed, I also knew, with certainty, that I would only take six months leave. Then I became a mother and suddenly I understood: it wasn't that simple. Some mothers have financial pressures to return to work, or they have a preference to. I had neither. Well, part time perhaps. If that existed. But I'll save talking about that in another post.

For now, here I am. Having stumbled upon my own blog and reminisce about the times when I was at work, negotiating with clients, leading a team, working long hours, and so on. Reminisce and cherish. But mainly cherish.

The. Blessing. That. Motherhood. Is.
