Can you make money from blogging?

Certainly you can:

‘Blogging is the new black. And, potentially, it's the new way to get your finances in the black. When Arianna Huffington recently sold her Huffington Post website, which originally began as a blog, to AOL for US$315 million, bloggers everywhere sat up and took notice. And no doubt many people who'd never blogged wondered whether they should give it a go.’ (Can you make money from blogging?)

So why have my small little patch of real estate in the Bloggersphere has been quiet lately (and on and off in the past)? Well, first, as fascinating as it is to learn about Google Ad Words, SEO, enable display advertising, measure page view and unique visitor traffic, these are all just add on’s. But that’s not why I’m blogging… Not sure about others out there, but I do enjoy reading, interacting, re-posting, savouring the words of, and learning from other people who log on from various parts of the world, offering wisdom and insight day in, day out.
So even though, I have been a bit quiet recently(because as Nicholas Bate said ‘you can do anything but you can’t do everything’ and right now life’s priorities don’t always allow time for blogging) it is still my treasured hideout, rather than my money making machine. I love blogging and being part of this community.
